| The usual rule of thumb for buying kids clothing is to buy a
size larger than their age...example: the average 6 yr. old wears a
size 7. Of course there are 6 yr. olds who wear a Size 5, 6, 6x, 7 or
8 and sometimes even into a 10 or 12. But, on average an average
6 yr. old wears a size 7. This info comes from 9 yrs. experience
working in Childrens Wear and attempting to fit thousands of
babies/toddlers/little kids and big kids :). |

| I buy a lot of my kids clothing from a Canadian mail order company
called Kids Only. Very high quality stuff, that lasts through several
children - but what I like best about them is their sizing system. You
buy clothing by the kids height! Styles are deliberately loose and
everything comes with adjustable waists (i.e. waist bands are big wide
elastic with buttons inside a casing that can be made smaller or larger
to accomodate slighter or more robust builds). They also line the bottom
of all their pants so you can roll them up and they look okay.

height and weight seem like a better indicator than ages or arbitrary
numbers or letters. |

I am trying to decide on the best quantity of little t-shirts
and shorts etc. to have for each of my little kids. I have a
tendency to have too much clothing in their drawers. I want some
opinions on #s of items of clothing for the kids to be well
dressed, but, not doing more than 1 load of laundry for each kid
a week. |
